Aqvilea Unveils New Single "New World Era"

Italian symphonic metal ensemble Aqvilea has introduced their latest single, "New World Era." This track also marks the band's new direction, featuring Finnish soprano singer Kate Nord as the new frontwoman. The release is part of their upcoming sophomore album and comes via their label, Saturnia Records.

"New World Era" was crafted, mixed, and mastered at the renowned Fredman Studio in Göthenburg by Swedish melodic metal pioneer Fredrik Nordström, known for his work with bands like At the Gates, In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, Dimmu Borgir, and Opeth. The song will be available on all major digital platforms and as a high-quality download starting from October 20, 2023.

Pier Lando Baldinelli, the band's founder, expressed his excitement about the studio results, emphasizing the exploration of cinematic and emotional elements within their new tracks. Aqvilea has accentuated the symphonic, choral, and structural aspects that characterize their unique style.

"New World Era" continues the chronological journey initiated in "Beyond the Elysian Fields." The first album celebrated the epic foundation of the band, while this second work delves into the historical events of the Roman city of Aquileia during the transition from the Res Publica to the Empire. The title symbolizes a radical change and an internal transformation, reflecting the project's artistic growth and an entirely revamped lineup alongside mastermind Baldinelli.

"In 'New World Era,'" Baldinelli explains, "we aim to take the listeners on a journey through time, immersing them in a whirlwind of sensations, emotions, and musical moments that blend the grand historical films of Hollywood with the latest concept of symphonic metal. Listeners will be transported back in time, strolling through the ancient streets of the city, enveloped in the enchantment of the moment."

The accompanying video features a digital reconstruction of the city of Aquileia, including its significant historical landmarks. The project was realized by Base 2 Video Factory studio in Gorizia, under the guidance of movie director Simone Vrech. Vrech, who previously worked on Aqvilea's award-winning video clips like "A Day Before the Wolf" and "Activim," has delivered several recent videos for Aqvilea's fellow regional band, Rhapsody of Fire. The video's artistic direction and production were overseen by Stella Marega.
